Day 2… Hiriga Well Dedication Continued

The ceremony to dedicate the well was very moving.  They asked me to cut the ribbon (vine) in front of the well.  Then they asked several children to come and put their hands on the pump.  Tom and I also put our hands on the pump.  We pumped 8 times and Tome and I released the pump and the children continued to pump the water.  This symbolized our real easing the well to the hands of the village.  Then there were prayers for blessing the well and the people of Hiriga.
