And fabric donated by Betty... lovely!

Then a box came from Kim at Fabric Outlet... wonderful!

On Thursday Sally came with more dresses... beautiful!

The Kindness of Strangers

I love going to the fabric store!!  Recently I was visiting a lovely quilting shop north of us and I met Noel.  I was sharing with her about sewing dresses for little girls in need.  She said she thought it was a wonderful idea.  About two weeks later I received a phone call from Noel and she said that she had been cleaning out her fabrics and would I like to have some to make dresses.  I thanked her and of course said "YES!!"  When we met she opened the truck of her car and there was so much fabric.  My husband estimated that she gave us about 80 pounds of beautiful cotton fabric!!  I have already shared some of this fabric with two sewing groups and I wanted to share my first creations out of the fabric...

Thank you Noel!!!
If you are in Washington and you want to sew for little girls in need... I have everything thing you need to make dresses just send me an email at suzannesewdleightful@gmail.com

Free Panel

I love the internet... sewing and fabric ladies are often doing giveaways or sharing with others!  Anna at http://www.urbanstitches.com/ was giving away the cutest baby panels.  She asked that we sew something special out of the panels and if possible that we donate that something special... Well I decided to ask for the panel and made two baby dresses out of them.  The panels are adorable and made the cutest dress... I still have some more panels to be creative with but here is my first dress...

Thank you sew much Anna!!

Bonnie stopped by and brought beautiful dresses

she always adds such cute accents... like the yoyo's on the pocket and at the neck!

She also surprised me with three bolts of coordinated fabric from a friend.  This fabric is a polished cotton in the most beautiful pale blues, pinks and greens.  I have given the fabric out to several sewers and here is the first dress that I made using all three fabrics...

We have sew many people to thank!!

Daily I am amazed by the generosity of so many people.  Once they hear about helping these little girls in need they are excited to help.  I have met people at garage sales, ladies in line at the fabric store, vendors at the Sewing Expo, Polyvore ladies, friends, businesses, and relatives... all wanting to help.  One person will give money, another will post a picture and spread the word about the campaign, another will collect pillowcases, another will sew, another will donate fabric, and another will support me with comfort when the road gets tough.  In a world where there is so much hate and violence, we are all working together to change the lives of these little ones. We pray for them and we tell we love them by using our gifts and talents.  We recycle in the most wonderful way... making that gently used pillowcase in a new creation.  We built friendships with each other.  I do not believe that I have ever seen a project that is sew logical or one that does so much with so little!!

Here are two of our sewers discussing how to finish this adorable dress.

Now my question is...
Is there a way you can help?

The Generosity of Strangers

Today I went to an estate sale because it listed
fabric
quilting
and sewing machine
amongst the description.
I was hoping to find some wonderful fabrics to make dresses for the little ones.
I found that but I found so much more.
The family was so generous
They wanted to know all about helping little girls with sewing dresses
And they shared about their mother Hazel
Her love of sewing
Her love of quilting
Her love for her family
A few of the wonderful items I got today

Hazel's Machine

As I was leaving the family gave me Hazel's machine and said that Hazel would have loved to have sewn with us and in giving her machine they felt that she was sewing with us...

The first dress made with Hazel's fabric

Thank you Anna and Becky and all of your family!!
