Thank you to all the Wonderful Ladies that Made this Possible!!

526 dresses and 503 accessories were picked up last week and are starting their journey to Sierra Leone!!  Lynn from Greatest Goal Ministries picked them up for us.  So many ladies made these dresses and delivered or mailed them to me in the last few weeks.  Thank you sew much for making this happen!!!

This is what 526 dresses looks like...

Thank you to my hubby Jim for carting them all out to the car!!

And yes we were able to fill the car completely for these little ones.

It does take awhile for this many dresses to travel to the other side of the world but as soon as we have pictures I will let you know!!

Thank you Lynn!!!

Thank you to each lady that sewed these dresses!!

The Journey of the TEA SET...

Last year we had a Tea Party.  At that Tea Party there were several Tea Baskets raffled off. Lynn Pelton from Greatest Goal Ministries (she works in Sierra Leone) won one of the baskets.  At the time Lynn said that she was going to take the set to Sierra Leone if she could.  Lynn just returned from a 6 week trip to Sierra Leone and here is what she sent in one of her emails...

Oh by the way.  The tea set I won at the raffle was given to the First Lady of Sierra Leone.  Your set is now at the Presidential Lodge

My response was WOW!!

Here is Lynn and I just as she was telling me what she hoped to do with her prize!!

Tea Time

Thanks to all of the wonderful ladies (30 of them) that came out for a Tea at my house!  We had a wonderful time together.  I spoke about my trip to Appalachia and shared pictures of that time.  Lynn Pelton shared about the plight of the people in Sierra Leone and shared pictures of dresses being delivered.  Lynn also won one of the raffle baskets we were giving away.  She decided that she would take the teapot and other items to the wife of the President of Sierra Leone... who recently helped Lynn's ministry open a hospital in that country!!

Sierra Leone

Lynn and Nick came recently and picked up 777 dresses. These dresses will be going to Sierra Leone.  If you would like to learn more about this ministry and country... go to Greatest Goal Ministries http://greatestgoalministries.org/   Sierra Leone suffered a civil war that began in 1991 and officially ended in 2001.  Approximately 75,000 people died during the war and there were over 10,000 amputations by machete and bullets.  Now 10 years after the civil war, Sierra Leone is struggling to survive.  It is one of the poorest countries in the world according to the National Human Development Report Office.  Most of the people live on less than 2 cents per day.

These dresses are our third group going to Sierra Leone and we are pleased to partner with Greatest Goal Ministries and provide dignity and care to little ones in need!!

Sierra Leone

Lynn just got back from Sierra leone and she delivered 100 dresses.  This is one of the poorest countries in the world. There are over 6 million people and less than 30 doctors... with over 10,000 amputees in this area.

These children were in a polio clinic... not all of them had polio but all had disabilities, many of them unable to walk.

Notice this little gal's crutches leaning on the wall next to her

So many beautiful faces!

There is still so much need in this country...
on the next trip to Sierra leone there will be over 500 dresses!!

Sierra Leone

In October 138 dresses went to Sierra leone with Greatest Goal Ministries.  As a result of the civil war in Sierra Leone there are 1000's of amputees and disabled.  GGM works with these people and their families to bring hope.  They provide a free medical clinic, educational sponsorships, fresh-water wells and laboratory services.  I was honored to provide dresses to go with this wonderful ministry.  And the pictures that they brought back are amazing!!

Sierra Leone

I received a wonderful email from the head of the Sierra Leone team that took 138 dresses in October.  She said "It was absolutely amazing to distribute the dresses.  The joy on the faces of the mothers and daughters was beyond heartwarming!"  Ladies KNOW that you are making a difference in the lives of little ones around the world!!!  I hope to have pictures up the end of next week...
