Appalachia

Judy Clark sent us a letter and picture recently from Kentucky.  The ladies is Everett made dresses and sent them to Appalachia.  Judy said that the dress were distributed at a Tea in connection with a Head Start program.  The teachers and aids were so excited to have these dresses to share with the little girls.  They seldom have anything to share with these younger girls... one of the teachers starting crying when she realized that they were getting all of these dresses... handmade with love!!

Tea Time

Thanks to all of the wonderful ladies (30 of them) that came out for a Tea at my house!  We had a wonderful time together.  I spoke about my trip to Appalachia and shared pictures of that time.  Lynn Pelton shared about the plight of the people in Sierra Leone and shared pictures of dresses being delivered.  Lynn also won one of the raffle baskets we were giving away.  She decided that she would take the teapot and other items to the wife of the President of Sierra Leone... who recently helped Lynn's ministry open a hospital in that country!!

Kentucky

I feel very honored to have been able to spend the last two days with the Hope4Kids team in Manchester, Kentucky.  We have been working with a chuch there, helping them organized and also refurbish a new buidling that they will use for a children outreach.

Jim and Robert are working on the light fixtures

Here the children can use points they have earned from Bible memory to "purchase" items

Thanks so much to the people in Manchester that are working with the little ones of Appalachia!!!

Appalachian Carnival

Today we spent the day in Kentucky with some beautiful children.  We played many carnival games, shared Jennie's wonderful Pillowcase Princess book, gave out dresses and shared a meal in the beautiful sunshine...

Appalachia

Last spring we had beautiful corduroy donated to us.  And this summer several people took that material and sewed it into pants, skirts and jumpers for Appalachia. We added mittens, hats and tights and sent three boxes off to help the little ones of Appalachia through this winter.  Thanks to all of the wonderful ladies that helped with this project!!

If you would like to help  just send me an email at

CORDUROY

We had some corduroy donated to us... it is beautiful!!  We decided to dedicate August to sewing this wonderful fabric.  We are making jumpers, pants and skirts for little girls in cold weather climates.  Soon a big box will be off to Appalachia!!  No sooner had we started sewing than I got a call from Jeanette, one of our faithful sewers and she has some coats, sweatshirts and hats to add to the boxes!!  There will be some children that are much warmer this winter thanks to all of you!!

Dresses and Scarves

With the holidays it has been a little busy and I haven't been doing quite as much sewing.  But I did branch out some and with purchased and donated fleece;  I made some hats, scarves and gloves that will be going off to Kentucky to be given to girls in the Appalachian Mountain region...

And there were three very feminine pillowcases donated by Lynne and Barbara that really inspired me... so here are the dresses that I made out of them:

Finally, one of my promises to myself in 2011 is to do more sewing and help more girls!!
